5 Millionth Gallon of Milk Distributed at St. John Food Pantry

St. John Food Pantry welcomed representatives from Channel 7 ABC News, The Herald-News, and Farmers Weekly Review on Tuesday, December 15th.

St. John volunteers handed out the five millionth serving of milk to Lanie Bredy.

Cameras were rolling, photos were snapped, and members from Feeding America, the Northern Illinois Food Bank, and Prairie Farms were on hand for the historic moment.

Channel 7 ABC News interviewed a Prairie Farms spokesperson, NIFB’s President and CEO Julie Yerko, St. John Food Pantry Director Dawn MacGregor and four of our clients, which included two of our regular volunteers.

Thank you to Channel 7 ABC News Producer, Sylvia Jones and her cameraman for shooting our story with kindness and dignity to our clients. Thank you to Hosea Sanders for telling our story.

Thank you to our friends at the Northern Illinois Food Bank for making this possible at St. John: Julie Yurko, President and CEO; Donna Lake, Director of Communications and Philanthropy; Steve Erickson, Director of Food Procurement; Erik Jacobson, Communications Manager; Brandon Pettigrew, Communications Specialist.

Thanks to our food pantry volunteers for being available and making everything wonderful, to Mike Evans for being our photographer, to St. John's staff for all of the preparation help, and to St. John's Pastor Holmer, Pastor Jen Beamsley, and Pastor Robin Caldwell for their support and guidance.
